DETOX PHILOSPHY
Autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, neurological disorders, and a high rate of obesity in America are usually the result of “toxic overload” on the body. This stresses bodily organs, lowering optimum function.
Although our bodies are able to eliminate most toxins on their own, this process may be compromised,
in turn compromising our health.
The Willow Spa Detox will cleanse, rebuild and maintain the vital organs of elimination: Colon , Kidneys, Liver, Lungs and Blood. Our body should be ready to eliminate toxins before they are released. We do this by getting the bowels working, keeping the skin clean and getting the kidneys and lungs operating. All organs of elimination must be operating properly for our body to dump toxins efficiently and maximally. As a result, good health can be restored.

GUIDE TO ORGANIC PRODUCE
Organic foods are those grown without the use of conventional pesticides, artificial fertilizers, human waste, or sewage sludge, and that they were processed without ionizing radiation or food additives. Livestock are reared without the routine use of antibiotics and without the use of growth hormones . There are different levels to organic grading on labels:
- 100% organic” – every single ingredient such as a fruit, vegetable, meat, milk and cheese is organic. (excludes water and salt)
- “Organic” – multiple ingredient foods which are 95% to 100% organic.
- “Made with organic ingredients” – 70% of the ingredients are organic. Can appear on the front of package, naming the specific ingredients.
- “Contains organic ingredients” – contains less than 70% organic ingredients.
Highest in pesticides – buy these organic
- Apples
- Bell Peppers
- Celery
- Cherries
- Grapes (imported)
- Nectarines
- Peaches
- Pears
- Potatoes
- Red Raspberries
- Spinach
- Strawberries
Lowest in pesticides – safer to buy conventionally grown
- Asparagus
- Avocado
- Bananas
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Corn (sweet)
- Kiwi
- Mangos
- Onions
- Papaya
- Pineapple
- Peas (sweet)
FOODS TO AVOID
Decrease or eliminate dairy products such as milk, cheese or ice cream. Milk contains milk proteins and these proteins are the most common cause of food allergies such as sinus problems, asthma, and skin problems and are linked to many diseases such as diabetes, anemia, heart disease, and obesity.
- Diabetes: Recent research indicates that consuming cow's milk throughout adolescence increases the risk of developing Type I diabetes
- Anemia: Milk is very low in iron, and drinking large quantities of it can crowd iron-rich foods from the diet
- Heart Disease and Obesity: Dairy products are major contributors of saturated fat and cholesterol to the diet
Decrease or eliminate all processed foods, refined sugars, commercially prepared condiments. Processed foods, refined sugars, and commercially prepared condiments are “dead” foods that no longer contain enzymes. As a result, these processed foods are left undigested in the intestines and starts to rot, and this rotting food leads to illness.
Decrease or eliminate gluten by avoiding foods that contain wheat, rye, oats, and barley. This includes pasta, bread products, crackers, cereals. Gluten proteins are extremely resistant to intestinal digestion. As a result, the partially digested gluten proteins may pass into the bloodstream and possibly trigger an autoimmune response.
Decrease or eliminate meats such as beef, pork and veal. These meats take a long time to digest.
Decrease or eliminate all alcohol-containing products including beer and wine. When alcohol is consumed it is broken down to acetaldehyde – a toxin in the liver which harms liver cells. They also are toxins in the brain and muscles and will slow down the detoxification process.
Decrease or eliminate all caffeine-containing beverages including coffee, tea, and soda. Caffeine is an addictive stimulant that depletes the body of essential nutrients, builds up toxins in the liver and will stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin, which can lead to unhealthy cravings. Eliminate decaffeinated coffee. Even in decaffeinated coffee there are small amounts of naturally occurring caffeine content.
READING LABELS
Read food labels carefully. The list of ingredients are listed in order of the quantity in the largest ingredients to the smallest, where the first 3 or 4 ingredients make up the bulk of the product.
Avoid:
- Avoid ingredients/ hidden ingredients (MSG or sugar) disguised by other names.
- Avoid labels that read “fat free” or “sugar free” or “Low carbs” or “diet”, they are masking what is mostly contained in the product whether it is sugar in the form of artificial sweetener or hydrogenated fats.
Look for:
- ”Organic” whole food ingredients
- ”Non-GM” or “Non-GE” (non-genetically modified or non-genetically engineered) food ingredients
- ”100% whole wheat” products
- Good oils such as extra virgin olive oil, raw coconut oil, flaxseed oil, high oleic expeller-pressed safflower oil and sunflower oil, sesame oil, and avocado oil.
- Healthy Sweeteners such as raw, unfiltered, unheated honey, raw agave nectar, maple syrup, and Stevia (a natural sweet herb/leaf).
- Salt content and type of salt: The better choices are Himalayan crystal salt and sea salt. Avoid table salt.
- Organic meats such as grass-fed beef, lamb and poultry.
